Velumia began with a single question. How do you build a daily cream with meaningful actives, comfortable moisture, and a barrier-conscious formula, with no weight, no shine, no added fragrance, and without obscuring ingredient identities behind a proprietary name?
Named after the Latin velum: a veil, a covering. A thin, structured layer that separates, protects, and holds.
It begins, deliberately, with four.
Four defining actives shape the architecture of VLM-4™. Chosen first, they establish the foundation of the formula. Their use levels will be shown with the product at launch.
VLM-4 (trademark) brings four defining actives into two complementary pairs. Tetrahexyldecyl ascorbate and acetyl zingerone form its antioxidant pair. Ectoin and saccharide isomerate form its hydration pair. Together, they define the architecture around which the rest of the formula takes form.
Balance is an engineering decision.
Skincare is often built by accumulation. More actives, more claims, more complexity, until the formula is harder to read than the skin it is meant to serve. Velumia was built in the opposite direction.
Four actives anchor the architecture at the center of VLM-4™, with two more, a peptide complex and bakuchiol, extending their work, and a biomimetic ceramide complex that helps support the skin's moisture barrier. Everything beyond them is chosen for a reason of its own: for the character it lends, for the texture it carries, or for the identity it gives the water base.

Begin on clean, dry skin. Nothing else is required first. As with any formula carrying multiple actives, we recommend a patch test before first full use.

A single pump, pressed gently across the face and neck. Designed to absorb quickly, without a heavy afterfeel.

A soft-matte finish designed to settle beneath sunscreen or makeup.
Considered answers.
Only what earns its place. Every formula we release is composed to do thorough, meaningful work on its own, never a filler step added to lengthen a routine. If we make more in time, each will hold to the same standard: considered, disclosed, and worth the space it takes.
VLM-4™ is designed to fit easily into a simple morning or evening routine. Layer it under sunscreen and makeup by day, or let it stand alone at night. When combining with multiple strong actives, introduce it gradually and patch test before first full use. Individual responses may vary.
No added parfum or standalone fragrance blend. Alongside purified water, the formula's water phase includes jasmine and green tea hydrosols, botanical waters carried through distillation. Any natural aroma comes from ingredients already present in the formula, never from anything added on top of them. When we publish the complete ingredient list at launch, it may name naturally occurring components of these botanicals, such as limonene or linalool. These are part of the botanical ingredients themselves, present in the plants we use, not fragrance added on top.
Never tested on animals. Not by us, not at any stage we commission or control. It is a line we do not approach, because it is not one worth approaching.
Active ingredients like vitamin C can degrade when exposed to air and light. The airless pump and fully opaque packaging help limit that exposure during use. It is a chemistry decision before it is an aesthetic one.

We made the cream we could not find.
We are a husband and wife. Like a lot of couples, our trips to the beauty counter were mostly hers, and one of us walked behind holding the basket. One thing in it was for both of us. The moisturizer, the one we could never quite settle on.
So we went looking for the one we could stop looking for. Ingredients we could actually see, a texture we enjoyed, a soft matte finish we both looked forward to. We are not chemists, and we never pretended to be. The science came from people who have done this for years. The standard came from us.
